The Experience
Imagine this. You arrive. The shala is open to the air. Singing bowls rest on cloth, a Muse EEG headset beside them. You are guided to lie down. The headset is placed. The session begins.
What follows is unlike any sound bath you have attended. The journey is not fixed. It responds, in real time, to what your nervous system is doing. As your brain moves into deeper states of calm, the sound deepens with it. You become a co-creator.
Each session is live-facilitated, not algorithmic, not automated. Each participant’s EEG data is converted to sound in real time. The Sound Shift co-creates the journey, shaping the soundscape to what each guest’s nervous system is generating in the moment.
The result is an experience that cannot be replicated, packaged, or streamed. It exists only in the room, only in that moment, only with that guest.
This is the only experience of its kind in luxury hospitality.
Guests are welcomed into a curated sound environment. A brief introduction frames what is about to happen — without over-explaining. The intention is set.
The Muse EEG headset is placed. Real-time brainwave data begins to flow, translated into sound. The facilitator responds live, shaping the soundscape — bowls, drones, tones — to what the guest’s nervous system is generating in that moment.
The session closes with a period of silence. Guests are guided back gently. Many describe it as the deepest rest they have experienced in years.
The Science
EEG — electroencephalography — measures the electrical activity of the brain through sensors placed on the scalp. The Muse headset translates this data into live brainwave readings: alpha, theta, delta, gamma.
Each state corresponds to a different quality of consciousness. Alpha is relaxed awareness. Theta is the threshold between waking and sleep, the state most associated with deep meditative rest. Delta is dreamless rest.
You Are The Sound reads where the guest is and guides the sound to meet them there, deepening the state rather than interrupting it.
The Muse headset is a research-grade EEG device validated across peer-reviewed neuroscience studies and used in universities and research institutions worldwide. Its data has been shown to be comparable to research-grade EEG systems.
You Are The Sound is built on a proprietary integration developed by The Sound Shift — connecting the Muse EEG data stream to a live sound environment in real time. The methodology is unique. The integration is exclusive.
The Sound Design
Every sound you hear in a You Are The Sound session exists because it was made for this. Not sampled, not licensed, not borrowed. The Sound Shift library of instruments was recorded specifically to serve the experience — each tone chosen for its resonance, its harmonic depth, and the way it behaves when the room is quiet and the nervous system is listening.
Crystal Tones, Paiste, Oetken and Meinl instruments — alongside antique and handmade bowls, drums and chimes — were recorded at 5dB, a premier London studio, under the direction of Javier Weyler, Head of Production and Design at 5dB Studios. The sessions were designed to capture not just the note, but the space around it.
What you hear is the result of that work. A library built to move the body, quiet the mind, and respond — in real time — to whoever is in the room.
